Internships:

Do An Event offers college seniors an opportunity to experience and learn the Event Planning industry as well as a tutorial on entrepreneurship. Since 2003, six such interns have successfully worked with our company. Four are currently working full-time in the event industry !

Chillon Wisneski--Bachelor of Arts Degree in Business Administration from California State University, Sacramento                                          Internship dates: July thru December 2007                                         Special project: Marketing and Press for the 6th annual West Sacramento Neighbors Fair plus directly worked on seasonal corporate events                 "There aren’t enough words to express all the valuable lessons I learned working for you. Not only did you challenge me to look within myself, you taught me things I could not have learned elsewhere. I have gained not only skills, but confidence in myself to reach for the stars. It is amazing how much I learned in such a short amount of time. You truly care about your impact on society, and it shows with your dedication to your interns.  I now have the knowledge to pursue my dream career as an event planner. Thank you so much for a great opportunity and amazing experience. I will never forget my internship at Do An Event, and all the fun times we had planning spectacular events."

Carrie Rutman - Bachelor of Arts Degree in Communication from University of California, Davis                                                                      Internship dates: February thru June 2007                                         Special project: Devoted to Sponsor Liaison for the Susan G. I feel so lucky to have worked for you and I know that I have not only gained knowledge in the event planning field, but also life skills that I might not have learned elsewhere. I feel so proud to have worked on the Komen Race and am so thankful that you trusted me to come into this internship and join such a massive project. You have opened my eyes to the event planning world and have really helped me to understand what being an event planner entails. Not only did I have fun everyday I was working, but I feel like I made a new friend (you of course) that helped me figure out more about myself. Once again, I can’t even begin to tell you what a wonderful experience this was for me and how great it was working with you."

Aimee Cha Bachelor of Arts Degree in Communication from University of California, Davis                                                                                       Internship dates: October thru December 2006                                            Special project: Document entire Props Inventory and create a special Props Rental page on this website for other event professionals.                            “My internship at Do An Event was invaluable.  I learned hands on skills that take me beyond basic comprehension. This opportunity allowed me to explore the world of entrepreneurship and understand the essential components in running a well-rounded and successful business.  I can’t thank Kevin enough for his patience and time in teaching me and allowing me to explore his realm of expertise.  I gained a tremendous amount of knowledge which is something that I would never be able to learn in a classroom setting.  Thank you again Do An Event for this incalculable opportunity.”

Allison Fuller - Bachelor of Arts Degree in Mass Communication from California State University, Sacramento                                           Internship dates: January thru May 2005                                                Special project: Hired on contract to administer the `05 Sacramento Valley AIDS Run/Walk. Allison continues to work with us as an independent contractor.                                                                                              "My internship with Do An Event was invaluable.  I not only learned about planning fabulous events, but also how to stand out as a professional in the industry and how to run an independent business.  My internship with Do An Event also led to future career moves including planning the Sacramento Valley AIDS Run/Walk and obtaining my current marketing job with United Way California Capital Region.  Kevin, you were and still are a great mentor to me and someone I can count on for any professional or personal advice.  You were an amazing teacher who had the ability to teach, even through times of chaos as we were setting up an event.  You are the first one to pull an intern aside and explain why you made a particular decision.  This is a rare quality to find.  I’m so thankful that I met you.  Again, thank you for taking a chance on a scrappy college student."

Jennifer Spencer - Recreation Administration from California State University, Chico.                                                                         Internship dates: June thru August 2002

Hilary Ulrich - BA Communications from St. Mary's College                         Internship dates: January thru May 2003                                            Special project: July thru September 2003 she documented and scrap booked the second Dream Home Showcase.

"The opportunity you gave me really got my feet wet in the realm of event planning and marketing one's business! I learned a great deal from you about interpersonal communication and intrapersonal communication, often having to drift out of my comfort zone to make contact with the appropriate party."
